Handling Search Agents: Errors, Updates, and Filtering

When creating a search agent, it is best to start with a broad search and gradually refine it over time. This process may lead to results that are not relevant to your interests. Below is a guide to the most common ways to refine and improve your search results. If you need further assistance, feel free to contact our support team. To ensure that your search agent delivers relevant results:

  • Check that your Agent/Search Profile contains the correct search terms.
  • Verify that your agent does not search in locations or categories that are not relevant to you.
  • To update the filtering settings, go to Agents, select Edit for relevant agent and adjust the search settings.

You can refine your search by filtering the media sources your agent monitors. Follow these steps:

2.1 Access the Media List Filtering

  1. In the top menu, click on Monitoring → Agents (submenu).
  2. In the left menu, click on Agents again.
  3. Select Edit for the relevant agent.
  4. In the Edit menu, click the Edit Media List button (top right corner).

2.2 Filtering options

a) Filter out hits in the wrong language

  • In the Edit Media List, go to Languages and click on Deselect All. Then, select your preferred language (e.g., Swedish).
  • Repeat this step under Countries to exclude unwanted locations.
  • Click Finish (top menu), then Done to save changes.

b) Filter Out Irrelevant Channels

  • In Edit Media List, go to Channels and uncheck categories such as Municipalities, Authorities or Social Media if they are irrelevant.
  • Click Finish (top menu), then Done to save changes.

c) Filter Out Irrelevant Sources

  1. In your Inbox, check the source name (under the article title) for irrelevant results and note them down.
  2. In the left menu, next to your agent’s name, click the Edit icon.
  3. This takes you to the Create Agent page. Click Edit Media List button.
  4. Under Sources, enter the name of a source you want to exclude, then press Search.
  5. Uncheck the box for that source.
  6. Click Finish (top menu), then Done to save changes.

Even the most refined search agents may return some irrelevant results. To manually remove an article:

  • In your Inbox, locate the article you want to delete.
  • Click on the dropdown menu (top corner of the article).
  • Select Remove.
  • The article will be removed from your inbox, future email reports, and the analysis tool.
