Personal data we collect

  1. Name and contact details, such as your email address, phone number, location, professional title and information about the company you represent, as well as any contracts you have entered into with us on behalf of yourself or your company.
  2. Account data, including username/user ID, newsroom name, password, unique identifier information such as API token, profile picture, biography and information related to profiles on other social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Skype or Google) that you have linked to in your user account.
  3. In the case of Newsletters, we collect the following data: opens, clicks, opt-ins (subscription to the newsletter), opt-outs (unsubscription to the newsletter)
  4. Personal and professional preferences, including interests, subscriptions and language preferences.
  5. Browser information, such as the type and version of browser, any website from which you were directed, the time zone you are visiting us from, the pages you visit on our website, your IP address and an approximate location based on your IP address, information about your web activity or your interaction in emails we send to you, and information about your use of our services.

Service usage data is partially logged in order to give support and debug problems.

How your information may be used

The personal data we collect will only be used in ways that are compatible with the purposes for which it was collected. The information may be used to:

  • provide, maintain and improve our services.
  • tailor content that we show you.
  • communicate and promote our services.
  • research and analyze the use of our services.
  • comply with legal requirements.
  • protect the rights and interests of NewsMachine.

We may also create aggregate or anonymous information about your and other users’ use of our Services for reasons similar to those listed above.

Consent

We collect data from users who have created an account with us, either as a test account or as a paid service.

When the account is created, we request your consent to process the above personal data. Consent is obtained via a check box when you have read our terms and conditions. Consent can also be obtained by phone, e-mail or regular letter. A link to this privacy policy is provided during account creation. Information about data protection and consent can also be found in our general terms and conditions.

The purpose of our collection of this personal data is to be able to offer you access to our services.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our website, you can choose to save your name, e-mail address and website in cookies. These cookies are for you not to have to fill in your details again the next time you leave a comment. These cookies are stored for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to our service, a temporary cookie is created to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal information and will be deleted when you close the browser.

When you log in, we will also create multiple cookies to save your login information and your screen settings. The login cookies are saved for two days, and the cookies for screen options for one year. If you select “Remember me”, your login details will be saved for two weeks. If you log out of your account, these cookies will be deleted.

If you edit or publish a text, an additional cookie is saved in your browser. This cookie contains no personal information and only indicates the post ID of the text you just edited. This cookies disappears after a day.

How long do we store your data

We will store identifiable data for an indefinite period of time or until the user asks us to anonymize and/or delete the user’s data.

For users of our services, the personal information we receive is stored in each user profile. For users who receive accounts through written agreements with their organization, other information in the agreement can also be saved in the user profile.

Your rights

If you have an account with us or have left comments on our site, you can request an exported file with the personal information we have about you, including all information you have provided to us. You can also request that we delete all personal information we have about you. However, this right is not covered by information that we are obliged to save for administrative or legal purposes or for security reasons.

Where your data is stored

We rely primarily on servers owned and operated by ourselves to provide our services. We never share or resell any data. Our servers are located in Stockholm, Sweden.

In addition, we use a limited number of services from third parties to be able to run our business.

Google Analytics 4 (USA)

Who has access to our information?

NewsMachine’s staff have access to user data to provide the company’s services.

We rarely use subcontractors, and in cases where subcontractors are hired, we require that they delete the information when the assignment has been completed.

How your data is protected

Our servers are located in physically secure premises with round-the-clock surveillance. Access control and logging of physical access occurs. Our methods for data protection in the configuration and maintenance of our servers are in accordance with the requirements set out in the data protection regulation.

NewsMachine AB is responsible for personal data for the personal data processed in accordance with this policy.
